June Update : Year To Date Performance

Table of Contents

If solar is to gain the trust of homeowners, then it must be a dependable energy source.

Each month we measure the actual energy produced versus the estimated amounts we originally shared with our customers. We believe accurately measuring energy production is not a nice thing to do. It is a core responsibility for any ENERGY company.

We have been tracking our systems since day 1.

Here is how we are doing at the end of May 2025:

Year to date, we are slightly below our estimated production with systems reporting 95% of expected production.

May was a soft month for solar production here in our part of PA.  It was cold, wet, and cloudy. We were down slightly less than 13% versus plan. The secret is out: less sun, less solar production.

Yes, measuring the sun is a bit of a roller coaster ride. Year to date, the bigger picture view, is that we are tracking 95% of estimated production with five months completed. If you remember back to school days, a 95% on a test is not the end of the world. In fact, it is pretty darn good. But the real point here is that we need to measure actual performance versus what we are telling homeowners during the sales process.

As we look at individual systems performance year to date and over several years, we do see that our earliest predictions ( ie, 2020 /2021 installs) are the ones farthest from the mark. This is great to know as it naturally leads us to be a bit more cautious today when making estimates.
